The Trans Hautes-Alpes will offer you breathtaking panoramas of the Ecrins massif, endless single tracks in the larch trees and a heritage full of curiosities. This sunny corner of paradise in the Southern French Alps is full of fantastic mountain bike trails that we will ride through the mountain ranges we cross.

Starting from La Grave, we will reach the fortified town of Briançon, climb the famous Izoard pass, cross the Queyras to reach the Napoleon hut and ride on a grandiose alpine ridge before diving straight into Serre-Ponçon lake. An all-inclusive adventure in the French Alps to do once in a lifetime!

PROGRAM

BRIANÇON OR LA GRAVE :

After a long drive to Briançon, take a day off to wander around the town and discover the sights of the citadel.

CLAVIERE - ARVIEUX

Welcome to Queyras !

DISTANCE : 40 km D+ : 1'600 m D- : 2'000 m

A ristretto to start the day, the ebikes charged and we are ready for this second stage. A track will take us to the top of the Montgenèvre ski area. From there, an incredible descent will lead us into the next valley to start the second ascent of the day. You will arrive at the col de l'Isoard, a mythical pass for cycling lovers. A short climb in a fascinating mineral landscape and you are ready to discover the singletrails of the Queyras. A playful descent on a perfectly smooth trail will bring us to our accommodation of the day, a typical Queyras farm transformed into a 3-star hotel. Take advantage of this authentic place and its spa to recharge your batteries for the remainder of the adventure

ARVIEUX - VARS

Singletracks festival

DISTANCE : 55 km A+ : 2 900 m D- : 2 600 m

A good climb to get into the rhythm and here you are, ready to ride a great classic of Queyras. From the pass, we will take a moment to observe the panoramic view in the heart of this wild and preserved area. We'll meander through alpine hamlets before reaching a second pass for the longest descent of the day. A festival of switchbacks awaits you ! We will leave the Queyras Natural Park by the main door to arrive in the Guillestrois region, and reach the resort of Vars by pedaling. A last bike park type trail to finish in beauty and we will join the Napoleon refuge, a historical passage point of the famous French emperor.

VARS - EMBRUN

Two great runs before diving into the lake

DISTANCE : 56 km A+ : 2 200 m D- : 3 260 m

We will pedal towards the summits of Vars offering a striking panorama on the Durance Valley, with our objective in the horizon : Serre-Ponçon Lake. We will ride down a wonderful alpine ridge with a vertical drop of more than 1500m between alpine meadows and larch forests. Technical and steep at some points, the descent becomes faster and more playful at the end. You will be rewarded by a dip in a natural hot spring before changing mountainside to join the heights of Embrun. From the belvedere, you will dominate the Serre-Ponçon lake and the fortified city. This last descent is a pure pleasure, specially designed for mountain biking on loose soil and then on black soil, offering an incredible playground. We will arrive feet in the water for a refreshing swim in the lake and a cool drink waiting for us.

Last night in a comfortable hotel where you can relax and enjoy the spa.

LA GRAVE - BRIANÇON
From one pass to another on the heights of Serre-Chevalier

DISTANCE : 40 km A+ : 1 420 m D- : 2 400 m

The adventure starts in La Grave, a charming village known worldwide for its off-piste skiing area and its colorful lifts that have created its identity over the years. You will pass through the famous Col du Lautaret to reach a mountain pasture on a royal singletrack overlooking Briançon’s Valley. Descent to a thermal village before climbing to the second pass of the day. Admire the view before plunging down to the fortified town of Briançon, on a descent of more than 1000m of vertical drop. Pit stop at the café before taking the shuttle to an Italian lodge right on the border. A moment of dolce vita in a haven of peace in the mountains.
